Slaughter and May is a leading international law firm, advising on high-profile and ground-breaking transactions around the globe. Our clients range from governments to entrepreneurs, from retailers to entertainment companies and from conglomerates to Premier League football clubs. We have 1,100 people in our London office, only half of which are lawyers. Virtual Work Insight Programme

Our Excellerators Programme gives an insight into the many different professions at an international law firm, ranging from lawyers to business services, including legal technology, global client development and responsible business. The weeklong, virtual programme is a chance for students across the UK to gain an insight into working life at Slaughter and May, as well as essential employability skills through interactive workshops, hands-on tasks and networking sessions.

What will you gain?

  • Get to know the legal sector: interactive sessions with our range of legal and business services staff
  • Skills-based workshops including ‘how to stand out on LinkedIn’ and ‘how to network effectively’
  • Offline tasks that will hone your business acumen and creativity in a commercial context
  • Become part of the Slaughter and May work experience alumni network for ongoing support and signposting to other opportunities
Application Criteria

  • Excellerators is recommended for students that have achieved grades 6-9 at GCSE
  • Candidates must:

    • be in one of the following years at school; Year 12 (England and Wales, S5 (Scotland) or Year 13 (Northern Ireland)
    • Currently attend and have always attended a state-funded, non-fee-paying school/college
    • Meet one or more of the PRIME Criteria
  • Up to 20 successful candidates in London and the surrounding area will also have access to a further insight week with the Social Mobility Business Partnership’s (SMBP) programme, which will offer additional insight from leading companies to further develop your career aspirations
How many spaces are there?

There will be approximately 75 places offered each year.
