We are delighted to see 29 of our member firms listed in the Top 75 employers for social mobility revealed in the Social Mobility Employer Index yesterday. It was also encouraging to see that Law remains the most represented sector, with 50 Index entrants.
PRIME Executive Chair, Elizabeth Robertson, says “Our member firms, and the wider legal profession, are making great progress in increasing social mobility. We can’t ignore though, as Rt Hon Alan Milburn highlights, that Britain remains a deeply elitist nation where someone’s chances of getting a well-paid job in a top profession are still strongly correlated with their social background. We need to continuously strive to do more to remove the barriers facing so many. This year it is unsurprising that returning entrants performed better as they adopted The Social Mobility Foundation’s guidance and sought to progress.”
