Where you’re born shouldn’t determine what you can become — but too often, it does.
As the The Sutton Trust’s Elitist Britain report highlighted, the sad reality is that many young people from disadvantaged backgrounds still face major challenges finding employment, regardless of ability or ambition.
That’s why providing meaningful opportunities to students in these areas is essential to unlocking potential and harnessing ambition.
We are delighted therefore that mfg Solicitors LLP, have joined PRIME and will be supporting us with delivery of our insight sessions to students in cold spot areas, changing young people’s perceptions of who can have a career in law and increase their understanding of the routes into law.
Molly Jane Lewis Lewis, PRIME’s Executive Co-Chair, says “mfg Solicitors share our passion for showcasing legal careers to students in social mobility cold spots and we are thrilled that they have joined PRIME. With offices across the West Midlands, they are perfectly placed to provide these students with the confidence to believe that a career in law is within their reach.”
Brian Hession, Partner at mfg Solicitors shares, “Students who grow up in social mobility cold spots are less likely to understand the ‘rules of the game’ — or even what the game is. They often don’t know where to start when it comes to accessing careers like law. They need guidance, clarity, and someone to show them how to navigate these pathways. By joining PRIME, we know we can play a valuable role in providing that support”.
