In-house teams playing a leading role

By 10 March 2026No Comments

To truly widen access to the legal profession, it is essential that students across the country see the wide variety of careers available in law – whether in private practice, in-house, or in emerging legal roles – and have the opportunity to experience them first-hand, close to home.

We are therefore delighted to announce that Shire Leasing PLC Leasing have joined PRIME and will be hosting students in Tamworth on their PRIME work experience programme this summer. Working within the in-house legal team, students will be involved in a wide variety of real, meaningful work that directly supports the business.

Students from Tamworth, or within an easily commutable distance, can find out more about the programme at Shire Leasing, and how to apply here.

Cat Greenwood-Smith, PRIME’s Executive Co-Chair, says “We’re excited to welcome Shire Leasing to the PRIME family. For so many students, access to the legal profession can feel out of reach. By joining PRIME and hosting work experience opportunities, our members play a vital role in empowering students to grow in confidence, expand their networks, and believe in what they can achieve. Having these opportunities available across the country, for those students that need them most, is essential to creating real, lasting change. Together, we’re opening doors, ensuring that our profession is accessible to all of those who have the talent and desire to achieve it.”

Hemesh Chohan, Solicitor at Shire Leasing shares, “At Shire Leasing, we know that future lawyers need more than legal knowledge, they need strong soft skills such as communication, confidence, and teamwork. Through PRIME, we’re committed to helping students develop these skills through genuine, hands-on experience within our in‑house legal team.

We continue to work closely with local schools and those further afield to ensure students from all backgrounds can access opportunities in law. We’re also looking forward to collaborating with other PRIME members on key areas such as networking, commercial awareness and widening access across different social demographics.

This summer, we’re excited to welcome new PRIME students and fully immerse them in the day‑to‑day work of our legal team. Supporting the next generation of legal talent is something we’re proud to champion.”

With an increasing number of in-house teams joining PRIME, they are playing a leading role in progressing social mobility within the legal profession and in developing the next generation of legal talent.

If you are an in-house legal team interested in joining PRIME and working with us to create a legal sector that everyone has access to, do get in touch and we can discuss what your next steps would be.
